Are you a passionate Health, Safety, Security & Environmental (HSSE) professional looking to play a key role in shaping the future of renewable energy?

Our client, a leading Independent Power Producer (IPP), is seeking an experienced HSSE Manager to join their growing team in Cape Town. Reporting directly to the Chief EPC Officer , this is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving HSSE excellence across a portfolio of renewable energy projects.

Position: HSSE Manager

Location: Western Cape, Cape Town

Salary: R1.5mil to R1.6mil ex performance bonus

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree or equivalent in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety or a related field
10 years + experience in renewable energy within similar role
5 years + in a management role
Professional HSSE certifications (e.g. SACPCMP CHSM, NEBOSH, SAMTRAC or equivalent) will be advantageous.

Skills:

Demonstrated success implementing and enhancing HSSE management systems and strategies across multiple projects.
Team Leadership
Excellent knowledge of South African health, safety and environmental legislation.
Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop, implement and continuously improve the company's HSSE strategy across all project activities.
Lead and mentor the HSSE team, fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
Ensure compliance with all applicable South African HSSE legislation, industry standards and company policies.
Provide HSSE leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from development and construction through to commissioning.
Partner with EPC contractors, consultants and project stakeholders to ensure best practice HSSE performance.
Conduct audits, inspections and incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are effectively implemented.
