Safety Officer (Construction & Renewable Energy Projects)
Location: South Africa
Job Type: Full-Time
Are you an experienced Safety Officer with a passion for maintaining the highest health and safety standards on construction and electrical projects? We are seeking a proactive and suitably qualified professional to join a dynamic project team operating within the energy and infrastructure sector in South Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement, monitor, and maintain project health and safety systems in line with South African legislation and industry best practices.
- Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA) and ensure appropriate control measures are in place.
- Support compliance with the Construction Regulations, 2014.
- Perform site inspections, audits, and safety monitoring activities.
- Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all project stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate health and safety records and reporting documentation.
Minimum Requirements
- Registered with SACPCMP in an appropriate category for Health and Safety Officer appointments.
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Health and Safety Officer on construction projects and/or within an electrical working environment.
- SAMTRAC qualification or equivalent health and safety certification.
- Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining a Health and Safety Management System aligned with the Construction Regulations, 2014 .
- Proven knowledge and practical experience in Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) processes.
- Experience conducting incident investigations , including causation analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Valid Code B (light motor vehicle) driver's licence .
- Strong communication, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills.
