Job description
The opportunity We are looking for an exceptional environmental educator who can teach brilliantly and then use the rest of the year to develop programmes, resources and products that improve environmental learning.
Your year will have two complementary parts4–5 months: Environmental education* Teach ecology, biodiversity, Life Sciences and environmental science.
- Lead school groups, camps and outdoor programmes.
- Develop and deliver lessons using observation, experimentation, play and fieldwork.
- Adapt teaching to different ages, abilities and learning styles.
- Create memorable, safe and well-organised learner experiences.
The rest of the year: Specialist work* Develop new environmental education programmes.
- Create curriculum-aligned lessons, teacher resources and learner materials.
- Develop practical activities, games and field investigations.
- Test and refine educational products with real learners.
- Contribute to digital learning, citizen science and educational product development.
- Support programme evaluation and improvement.
- Develop partnerships with schools and education organisations.
Requirements
Qualifications & experience* A Bachelor's degree or postgraduate qualification in education, environmental science, ecology, science communication or a related field is beneficial.
- Formal teaching qualifications are advantageous but not essential where teaching ability is demonstrated.
- Experience teaching children or young people is strongly preferred.
