Job Description
Job Purpose
The Environmental Officer will be responsible for the resorts environmental performance and execution of the SHE framework for the unit; including the implementation of policies, procedures, incidents and projects and the collection and analysis of data for reporting purposes with the aim of maintaining a superior standard of environmental performance to ensure compliance with environmental legislation. The role will be responsible for water, waste, and energy management throughout the resort in line with legislation and Group standards.
Core behavioural & Technical / proficiency competencies
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge on SHE frameworks and waste, water, and energy management
- Identify and communicate environmental impacts and risks that exist, evaluating adverse or hazardous conditions and practices throughout the resort.
- Conduct daily walkabouts on all kitchens and outlets to ensure correct procedures are being followed.
- Record and investigate resort environmental accidents and incidents to determine cause and impact, proposing improvements in processes.
- Follow-up and close out incidents and non-conformance reports with regular updates.
- Maintain SHE legislative registers in line with regulatory requirements.
- Technical
- Working knowledge and application of Occupational Health & Safety; and Environmental management legislation and regulations, Inspections, Investigation skill
- Incident reporting, Impact & risk assessments
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Report writing, ISO system, NOSA system
- Proficiency in MS Office, Project management skills
Job Requirements
Education
Diploma/Degree in Environmental Management/Environmental Science
A post graduate qualification would be an advantage
Experience
5 years’ experience in environmental management Working knowledge and application of Occupational Health & Safety; and Environmental management legislation and regulations, Inspections, Investigation skill
