ESG Reporting Specialist

Purpose of the role

Assess the client's ESG and sustainability reporting readiness and design the ESG measures, climate risk integration and disclosure roadmap.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out an ESG gap analysis against IFRS S1 and S2, the GRI Standards and King IV/V.
• Identify material ESG and climate risks and impacts (physical and transition), and integrate them with the enterprise risk framework.
• Define ESG KPIs, data processes and assurance readiness, and the ESG content of Board and EXCO reporting and dashboards.
• Benchmark ESG disclosure against comparable utilities and state-owned companies.
• Develop the ESG reporting readiness elements of the roadmap.

Deliverables: Specialist input to the SHEQ and ESG diagnostic, process and reporting redesign, dashboard design and roadmap.

Minimum requirements (must meet)

• Degree in environmental science, accounting, sustainability or a related field.
• At least 8 years' experience in sustainability or integrated reporting.
• Working knowledge of IFRS S1 and S2 and the GRI Standards.
• Experience in climate risk assessment.
• South African citizen or permanent resident.

Preferred requirements (strongly advantageous)

• Master's in sustainability or environmental management, or CA(SA) with a sustainability focus.
• IFRS Foundation FSA Credential; GRI Certified Sustainability Professional; climate-risk (TCFD / IFRS S2) certification.
• 10+ years, including integrated or sustainability reporting for an energy utility or state-owned company.
• Knowledge of the JSE Sustainability and Climate Disclosure Guidance and the Climate Change Act 22 of 2024.

Pay: From R18 000,00 per day
