POSITION INFO: JOB DESCRIPTION INFORMATION: Job Title: Quality Officer Employment Type: 1 Year contract (Extendable) Work Model: Onsite (Richards Bay, Bloemfontein and Mmpumalanga) JOB CONTEXT: We're on the lookout for a passionate and detail-driven Quality Officer to promote, implement, and maintain a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment while ensuring that quality standards are consistently achieved across all operations. The successful candidate should have powerline experience in substation and\/or overhead powerline projects for Eskom\/NTCSA. As a Quality Officer, you will develop and enforce safety policies and procedures, conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments, and identify potential hazards to prevent incidents and injuries. You will ensure compliance with all relevant safety legislation, Eskom\/NTCSA requirements, industry standards, and internal quality management systems. The role also involves delivering safety and quality training, maintaining accurate records and documentation, investigating incidents and non-conformances, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall safety performance, quality outcomes, and operational excellence across the organization. Please note that this role is based in Richards Bay, Bloemfontein and Mmpumalanga. Duties and Responsibilities: Safety: Develop and implement company-wide safety policies and procedures based on regulatory requirements and best practices. Ensure that safety policies are effectively communicated to all employees and contractors. Conduct regular inspections and audits of work areas, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards or violations. Prepare detailed reports of findings and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks. Organize and conduct safety training programs for employees on topics such as hazard identification, emergency response, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Provide guidance and support to supervisors and managers to ensure safety compliance within their departments. Coordinate safety committee meetings and initiatives to address safety concerns and promote employee participation in safety initiatives. Collaborate with management and department heads to integrate safety practices into daily operations Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and safety-related complaints to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures. Maintain records of incidents and ensure that corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence. Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures, including evacuation drills and response protocols. Maintain emergency equipment and supplies, ensuring readiness for use. Quality: Perform inspections of raw materials, components, and finished goods. Conduct in-process checks to ensure production standards are met. Use measuring tools and equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify product dimensions and specifications. Follow and enforce company quality control processes and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). Assist in establishing quality benchmarks and inspection protocols. Implement corrective actions to resolve identified quality issues. Record and maintain detailed inspection reports, testing results, and non-conformance data. Prepare reports for internal review or audits on quality performance. Maintain calibration logs for inspection equipment and tools. Work closely with production, engineering, and procurement teams to resolve quality-related issues. Communicate defects, rework, or quality risks to supervisors and stakeholders. Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies during inspections. Qualifications & Experience: Matric Certificate. Diploma or degree in Quality Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field. 5 - 10 Years' experience. Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., OSHA certification) is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software. Proven experience on Eskom\/NTCSA substation and\/or overhead powerline projects . Mandatory skills: Proven work experience as a Quality Officer, Safety Officer, Safety Coordinator, or similar role. Stay informed about current and emerging health and safety legislation and regulations. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in identifying hazards and assessing risks. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage others in safety initiatives. Sound knowledge of Eskom\/NTCSA quality standards, specifications, and construction requirements . Package & Remuneration: Will be agreed based on qualifications, experience and previous earnings.
