EV Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, repair and maintain electric and hybrid vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
• Conduct EV high-voltage system diagnostics, testing and repairs.
• Identify and troubleshoot electrical, electronic, mechanical and software-related vehicle faults.
• Perform routine servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles.
• Use approved diagnostic equipment and specialised EV tools to identify and resolve faults.
• Carry out repairs on EV components including electric motors, charging systems, battery systems, inverters and related electrical components.
• Conduct vehicle inspections and ensure all vehicles meet safety, quality and manufacturer standards before being released to customers.
• Complete accurate job cards, diagnostic reports and repair documentation.
• Escalate complex technical issues to the Workshop/After-Sales Manager where required.
• Work closely with the Parts, Service and After-Sales teams to ensure efficient vehicle repairs and turnaround times.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area and comply with all workshop health and safety procedures.
• Follow all required high-voltage safety procedures when working on EV systems.
• Keep up to date with new EV technologies, diagnostic procedures and manufacturer technical updates.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:

• Trade Certificate / Trade Test Certificate in Automotive Motor Mechanic, Automotive Electrician, Auto Electrical, or a related automotive trade.
• EV / Hybrid vehicle qualification or manufacturer-specific EV training will be an advantage.
• Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in an automotive workshop/dealership environment.
• Experience with EVs, hybrid vehicles, high-voltage systems or electric vehicle diagnostics will be highly advantageous.
• Strong vehicle diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Computer literate and able to work with diagnostic equipment and workshop/job-card systems

Note: The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel frequently, including travel to dealerships, customer sites and other locations as required by the business.

Pay: From R15 000,00 per month
