About

The Restaurant is one of Cape Town's most established dining destinations, known for exceptional cuisine, premium service and memorable guest experiences. We are seeking a dynamic and commercially minded Events & Business Development Manager to drive private functions, corporate events and strategic partnerships that contribute directly to the growth of the business.

Position Overview

This is a hands-on role suited to an individual with strong hospitality and front-of-house experience who is passionate about customer service, networking and business development.

The successful candidate will be responsible for increasing function bookings, building long-term client relationships and developing new revenue streams through corporate partnerships, hotel concierge relationships, tourism networks and other business channels.

Key Responsibilities

Events & Function Management

  • Manage the function and event enquiries from initial enquiry through to execution.
  • Conduct venue show-rounds and client meetings.
  • Coordinate private events, corporate functions and special occasions.
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure successful event delivery.
  • Maintain high levels of client satisfaction and repeat business.

Business Development

  • Proactively source and secure new function bookings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with corporate clients, event planners, travel operators and tourism stakeholders.
  • Establish and grow relationships with hotel concierges and guest relations teams.
  • Identify new opportunities to increase venue utilisation and event revenue.
  • Attend networking events and industry functions where required.
  • Build and maintain a database of key contacts and prospective clients.

Relationship Management

  • Develop strong relationships with existing clients to encourage repeat bookings.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for the brand.
  • Maintain regular communication with corporate clients, partners and referral sources.
  • Create strategic partnerships that generate long-term business opportunities.

Marketing & Promotion

  • Assist with the promotion of events, special offers and venue capabilities.
  • Work alongside management on initiatives aimed at increasing brand awareness and function bookings.
  • Contribute ideas for seasonal promotions and revenue-generating events.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in hospitality, events, front-of-house management or a related role.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain professional business relationships.
  • Strong sales, networking and business development skills.
  • Well-presented, professional and confident in dealing with clients.
  • Ability to work independently and achieve revenue targets.
  • Valid driver's licence and vehicle.

The ideal candidate will have:

Existing relationships within the corporate, tourism, hospitality or events sectors.

Experience securing function bookings or generating business opportunities.

Knowledge of the Cape Town hospitality and tourism market.

Experience working with hotel concierges, travel agents or tourism partners.

Previous front-of-house or restaurant management experience.

Working Hours

This position operates within the hospitality industry and therefore requires flexibility.

Applicants must be willing and able to work hospitality hours, including:

  • Evenings
  • Weekends
  • Public holidays
  • Event-specific hours as required
