EXPLOSIVE CO-ORDINATOR (Grading C4)
All applications must include police-certified copies of the applicant's ID and certificates
Job specification
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- A Diploma or certificate with the following main subjects Statutory Law / Common Law / Law of Evidence and Procedure
- Certificate in Explosives registered with the CIE will be advantageous
- At least 5 years Mining environment Sound knowledge of the Explosives Act, Mine Health and Safety Act, and applicable regulations.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Experience with explosives inventory and stock management systems.
- Valid driver's licence.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the ordering, receipt, storage, issuing, and return of explosives and accessories.
- Ensure compliance with the Explosives Act, Mine Health and Safety Act, and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate explosives inventory records and reconcile stock on a daily basis.
- Coordinate explosives deliveries with suppliers and internal departments.
- Ensure magazines are managed and secured in accordance with legal requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections of explosives magazines and storage facilities.
- Investigate and report any explosives discrepancies, incidents, or non-conformances.
- Compile and submit explosives usage and stock reports.
- Liaise with production teams to ensure explosives are available to meet operational requirements.
- Ensure all explosives documentation is completed accurately and filed appropriately.
- Participate in audits and implement corrective actions where required.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout all explosives-related activities.
EFFECTIVE LEGAL COMPLIANCE OF EXPLOSIVES
- Civil or construction blasting to be conducted within legal framework
- Submit reports for the operation to Management
- Ensure statutory compliance
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE EXPLOSIVE CONTROL SYSTEMS
- Implement codes of practice based on risk assessments and systems audits
- Implement audits and investigations
- Conduct explosives related accidents/incidents investigations
- Conduct searches for unsecured/abandoned explosives
- Ensure daily destruction of explosives
- Ensure correct and safe transport, storage and handling of explosives
- Compliance inspections and task observation: transport, storage, use and documents and logbooks
TECHNICAL TRAINING AND COACHING
- Training and coaching to explosive receivers and handlers
- Training and coaching to external clients regarding the identification and safe handling of explosives
- Provide technical training and coaching on surface to support the elimination of identified barriers regarding explosives management and control
COST CONTROL
- Track explosive efficiencies
- Apply cost controls for orders
- Assist with budgeting process
