Export Shipping Controller

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Export Shipping Controller to join our Supply Chain team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and managing export shipments from order placement through to final delivery, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and maintaining exceptional customer service standards.

This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage multiple stakeholders including customers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs agents, and internal departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage all export shipments from order confirmation to final delivery.
• Prepare and review export documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, bills of lading, and other shipping-related documents.
• Liaise with customers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, and regulatory authorities.
• Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and company policies.
• Book shipments and monitor cargo movements to ensure on-time delivery.
• Manage shipping schedules and proactively communicate any delays or disruptions.
• Maintain accurate shipment records and update internal systems.
• Coordinate with production, planning, warehousing, and finance teams to ensure export orders are executed efficiently.
• Resolve shipment-related queries, claims, and discrepancies.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to optimise export processes and service levels.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of international shipping documentation and export procedures.
• Knowledge of Incoterms, customs regulations, and freight forwarding processes.
• Experience working with ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
• Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
