Job description

We're currently recruiting for an External Sales Technician on behalf of a leading supplier of premium European plastics processing machinery and automation solutions to the South African manufacturing sector.

Role overview

Location: Randburg, Johannesburg (candidates should be based in or near Johannesburg — Roodepoort, Fourways, Bryanston, Sandton, Midrand, Northcliff, Boksburg, Germiston, Kempton Park or Centurion also work)
Employment type: Permanent
Salary: R40,000 – R60,000 basic per month (depending on experience), plus 50% medical aid, 7.5% pension fund, group life cover, R6,750/month car allowance, and 7% GP commission

What they'll be doing

Selling a broad portfolio of capital equipment — injection moulding, extrusion, feeding systems, printing, automation/robotics, recycling and auxiliary machinery — into plastics manufacturing, packaging, automotive, medical and technical plastics customers. It's a consultative, relationship-driven role with long sales cycles (6–24 months), managing an existing customer base while developing new business.

Who we're looking for

5+ years' external technical sales experience selling capital equipment, industrial machinery or technical manufacturing solutions
Comfortable engaging engineers, plant managers, procurement teams, directors and business owners
Self-starter, strong relationship builder, stable employment history
Valid driver's licence and own reliable vehicle
Exposure to plastics processing machinery is a plus, but candidates from related industrial machinery backgrounds (automation, hydraulics, process equipment, etc.) will also be considered
