Facilities Supervisor
Job Overview
The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of facilities, ensuring a safe, compliant and operational environment that supports retail operations, workshops and warehousing. This role coordinates planned and reactive maintenance, manages contractors and service providers, supports cost control, and ensures building services and general maintenance issues are resolved efficiently. The successful candidate is hands-on, technically capable and able to supervise teams and service partners while maintaining strong OHASA compliance and operational standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Matric (Grade 12) essential
- Relevant qualification in Facilities Management, Building Maintenance, Engineering, Construction, Operations/Service Management or equivalent proven experience
- 5–8 years' experience in facilities/building maintenance, site services, retail operations, workshops, warehousing or engineering environments
- 2–4 years' experience supervising teams, contractors and service providers
- Practical understanding of OHASA and related compliance requirements
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel between sites as required
- Must reside in Pretoria and/ or surrounding suburbs
Skills and Knowledge
- Working knowledge of OHASA and general building compliance
- Technical understanding of building services and building fabric, including electrical, plumbing, roofing, pumps and general maintenance
- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) coordination and reactive maintenance follow-up
- Contractor and service provider supervision, including quotation follow-up, quality checks and sign-off
- Basic CCTV and access control maintenance coordination
- Tools, consumables and spares/stock control
- Cost awareness and ability to prioritise spend based on operational impact
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong administration and reporting discipline; proficient in Microsoft Office and maintenance/job card systems
- Hands-on problem solver who can work under pressure and follow through on open items
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day facilities operations across sites, ensuring assets are safe, functional and customer-ready
- Coordinate PPM schedules and ensure maintenance work is completed, recorded and closed out
- Respond to reactive maintenance issues and coordinate first-line repairs or contractor support where required
- Supervise internal maintenance teams, contractors and service providers to ensure safe, quality work
- Conduct routine site inspections and follow up on defects, risks and maintenance priorities
- Coordinate contractor access, site requirements, quality checks and completion documentation
- Oversee CCTV and access control maintenance coordination and fault logging
- Manage tools, spares and consumables, including issuing, stock levels and routine counts
- Support cost control by obtaining quotations, validating work completed and escalating recurring failures
- Partner with Retail Operations, workshop and warehouse teams to prioritise work and minimise disruption
Compliance, Safety and Risk
- Support compliance with OHASA and internal policies, including contractor files, inductions, risk assessments and permits where applicable
- Maintain key inspection records, registers and compliance evidence required for audits and site reviews
- Identify facility risks and ensure corrective actions are logged and followed through
- Support incident investigations related to facilities and assist with preventative actions
- Escalate high-risk defects, non-compliance and business-critical maintenance issues promptly
