Factory Manager

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Furniture Factory Manager to oversee the daily operations of our furniture manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for production, staff, quality control, stock, deadlines and ensuring the factory operates efficiently and profitably.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day factory operations

Plan and monitor production schedules

Manage factory staff, supervisors and production teams

Ensure orders are completed on time and to specification

Monitor product quality and finishing standards

Control wastage of boards, timber, fabrics, hardware and other materials

Manage stock levels and factory inventory

Coordinate cutting, edging, assembly, upholstery and finishing departments

Ensure production targets are achieved

Identify and resolve production bottlenecks

Ensure machinery and equipment are maintained

Implement and maintain health & safety procedures

Monitor staff attendance, productivity and performance

Train and develop factory employees

Work closely with sales, design, purchasing and installation teams

Track production costs and reduce unnecessary expenses

Maintain a clean, organised and professional factory

Report production performance and issues to management

Requirements

5+ years' experience in furniture manufacturing or a related production environment

Previous experience managing a factory or production team

Strong knowledge of furniture manufacturing processes

Experience with board materials, solid timber, cabinetry and/or upholstery

Ability to read drawings and understand cutting lists

Strong staff-management skills

Good organisational and planning ability

Excellent problem-solving skills

Strong attention to detail

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Computer literacy

Valid driver's licence would be advantageous

What We Are Looking For

We need someone who is hands-on, disciplined and results-driven — not someone who simply supervises from an office.

The ideal manager will take ownership of the factory, ensure staff are productive, minimise wastage, maintain quality and make sure every order leaves the factory correctly and on time.

Job Type: Temp to perm

Pay: R12 000,00 - R18 000,00 per month

Work Location: In person
