Factory Manager

Paul Michael Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a well-established client in the shopfitting and wood manufacturing industry. We are looking for a driven, hands-on and results-focused Factory Manager to lead a busy production facility and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced production professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and has a strong background in shopfitting, joinery or wood manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all factory and production operations.
• Ensure production schedules are achieved in line with project deadlines.
• Coordinate workflow between Production, Supervisors, Project Managers, Procurement and Installation teams.
• Drive productivity, operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor manufacturing costs, material usage, waste and supply chain efficiencies.
• Maintain exceptional quality control standards throughout production.
• Lead, mentor and manage factory staff, including performance management, training and development.
• Interpret technical drawings and ensure production requirements are accurately executed.
• Oversee material planning and procurement requirements.
• Manage factory machinery, equipment maintenance and overall operational readiness.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and quality standards.
• Resolve production challenges quickly and implement practical solutions.
• Assist in implementing systems and processes to improve overall factory performance.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Diploma or Degree in Production Management, Operations Management or a related field (advantageous).
• 8–10 years' experience in a Factory or Production Management role.
• Essential: Previous experience within the Shopfitting, Joinery or Wood Manufacturing industry.
• Strong knowledge of production planning and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Experience implementing and managing quality control systems.
• Valid South African driver's licence.
• South African citizen.
