FACTORY / OPS MANAGER- KNYSNA

The Role

The Factory Manager will oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations for custom and production-line recreational vehicles. You will lead cross-functional teams spanning chassis prep, cabinetry/carpentry, 12V/240V electrical systems, plumbing, body fitment, quality assurance, and final delivery.

Your primary mandate is ensuring production targets are met on time, within budget, and to strict automotive and residential safety compliance standards.

Skills and Experience KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operations & Assembly Management

• Operations Leadership: including production, quality control, supply chain, maintenance, and engineering.

• Financial Accountability: profit and loss, manage operating budgets, and reduce costs without lowering product quality.

• Safety and Compliance: Enforce strict health and safety rules and meet all local laws and industry standards.

• Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop the team.

• Monitor daily plant output.

• Quality Control & Safety Compliance

• Enforce rigorous quality checks that the vehicles meets industry standards.

• Ensure full compliance with automotive safety standards, vehicle registration guidelines, and electrical/gas safety certifications.

• Drive root-cause analysis (RCA) on defect trends and warranty claims to improve build standards.

• Supply Chain & Inventory Coordination

• Manage long-lead components (chassis supply, appliances, specialized fiberglass panels, solar/battery systems).

• Prevent production halts.

• Team Leadership & Workforce Management

• Lead floor supervisors, team leads, tradespeople and assembly technicians.

• Financial & Resource Planning

• Control plant operational expenditure.

• Evaluate and justify capital expenditure.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS PROFILE

5–10 years factory management as well as operations and manufacturing within commercial vehicle, marine, or modular construction.

Technical Knowledge of DC/AC power systems, automotive body design, gas/plumbing standards, and cabinetry/CNC operations.

Proven track record with high-variability manufacturing.

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Operations Management.
