Job description
Pie in the Sky is looking for a responsible, energetic and customer-focused Factory Shop Controller to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of our Factory Shop. The successful candidate will ensure that the shop operates efficiently, stock is accurately controlled, transactions are processed correctly and customers receive professional and friendly service.
The position requires a person with strong integrity, attention to detail, good numerical ability and a hands-on approach.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Open and close the Factory Shop and ensure it is ready for daily trading.
· Provide friendly and efficient service to employees and members of the public.
· Promote products and support the growth of Factory Shop sales.
· Receive, check and control stock, including stock counts and investigation of variances.
· Ensure correct stock rotation and monitor expiry dates, damages and wastage.
· Process all transactions accurately through the cashless POS system.
· Complete daily POS reconciliations and submit required information to Finance.
· Ensure that only approved prices, discounts, returns and credits are applied.
· Maintain accurate product pricing and attractive product displays.
· Keep the shop clean, organised and presentable at all times.
· Ensure that only products approved by Quality are offered for sale.
· Follow all food-safety, hygiene, storage and product-quality requirements.
· Supervise and allocate daily duties to the Factory Shop Assistant.
· Provide accurate sales, stock and operational information to Management, Finance, Production and Quality.
· Report discrepancies, unusual transactions, stock losses or other concerns immediately.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
· Grade 12 or equivalent practical literacy and numeracy.
· Approximately 2 years’ relevant experience in retail, a factory shop, stock control or a similar environment.
· Experience with POS transactions, customer service and stock/inventory control.
· Previous experience as a Team Leader, Senior Assistant or Lead Person will be advantageous.
· Basic computer literacy, including email and Excel/spreadsheet reporting.
· Ability to complete basic reconciliations accurately.
· Experience in a food or FMCG environment will be advantageous.

IMPORTANT
The Factory Shop operates on a cashless basis. The successful candidate will therefore be expected to maintain strict control over POS transactions, stock movements, approvals and daily reconciliations.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys working with customers, products, stock and numbers, while taking responsibility for the overall standard and performance of the shop.
