Job Description: Farm Manager (Tunnel Farm)

Location: Stellenbosch, Western Cape
Position: Full-Time Farm Manager

Position Overview

We are looking for a young professional who is passionate about agriculture and eager to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of our tunnel farming operation. This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, organisational skills, and the ability to work closely with employees to ensure the efficient production of high-quality crops.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage farm employees, ensuring daily tasks are completed efficiently.
• Oversee all planting, transplanting, crop maintenance, and harvesting activities.
• Manage irrigation schedules, including operating and monitoring water systems.
• Ensure crops are grown according to production plans and quality standards.
• Monitor crop health and report any pest, disease, or irrigation issues.
• Allocate daily tasks and monitor employee performance.
• Maintain accurate records of planting, harvesting, irrigation, and labour.
• Ensure tunnels, irrigation systems, and farm equipment are clean and well maintained.
• Enforce health and safety procedures and promote a productive working environment.
• Communicate regularly with farm owners regarding daily operations and crop progress.

Requirements

• A relevant qualification in Agriculture or a related field is advantageous.
• Previous experience in vegetable production or tunnel farming is preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems and crop production practices.
• Valid driver's licence (preferred).
• Willingness to work flexible hours during peak production periods.

Pay: R10 000,00 - R20 000,00 per month
