Job description
POSITION: FASHION GRAPHIC DESIGNER
DEPARTMENT: BUYING
LOCATION: CAPE TOWN
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Develop engaging textile, graphic, and pattern designs for product ranges and campaigns. Support Buyers by creating clear, attractive visuals for in-store, digital, and marketing channels to connect customers with merchandise and drive sales.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Designing – Graphic and Surface Design
- Design graphics, all-over prints, placement prints and embroideries using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, aligned to PEP Africa’s brand, customer and seasonal trends
- Prepare and organise final artwork files for supplier handover, ensuring correct formats, colour references, and technical requirements
- Re-draw, adapt, edit and re-colour existing designs to suit different products, fabrics, sizes and price points
- Develop multiple design options per brief to support range planning, price architecture and assortment decisions
- Stay up to date with fashion, graphic and surface design trends relevant to value retail and the PEP Africa customer
Administration, Systems & Design Governance
- Ensure compliance with internal processes, CI guidelines and design standards
- Ensure all artwork files are correctly formatted and stored for handover to suppliers and future reference
- Manage and update design libraries on Google Drive (print libraries, surface design assets, and reference folders)
- Keep the brief tracker sheet up to date to ensure visibility of priorities, progress and deadlines
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Communicate to the team to understand briefs, product strategies, timelines and commercial objectives
- Contribute creative input during planning and product discussions to support sales and promotions
- Communicate design intent and updates clearly to ensure alignment and smooth execution
- Build strong relationships with internal teams and suppliers to efficient design delivery
JOB INCUMBENT REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma in Textile,surface, Graphic design
- 2 + years’ design experience, preferably in a retail environment
- Retail industry experience is advantageous
- Computer literacy: Advanced skills in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Google Suite
- Rangebuild knowledge
- Great eye for design and detail
- Good planning / organising and ability to cope with pressure and deadlines
- SA citizen
