Field Guide

A gorgeous Big 5 reserve in the malaria-free Eastern Cape is looking for an enthusiastic FIELD GUIDE to join their team.

This role calls for a confident guide who can lead game drives and guided walking safaris across a diverse landscape, delivering polished, knowledgeable experiences for discerning guests.

Core Criteria:

• FGASA Level 2 qualification or higher
• Valid PDP
• Apprentice trails guide status advantageous
• Strong knowledge of African wildlife, ecology, and bush safety
• Excellent guest engagement and communication skills
• Understanding of Afrikaans preferred (spoken ability a bonus)
• Single status preferred, given shared, remote staff accommodation
• Non-smoker; a responsible approach to alcohol is fine, but heavy drinkers need not apply
• Willingness to work an extended on/off duty cycle typical of remote reserve life
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working independently in a bush environment

Candidate Responsibilities:

• Conduct game drives and guided walking safaris for guests
• Deliver engaging, knowledgeable interpretation of the reserve's flora, fauna, and ecology
• Ensure guest safety at all times while on activity
• Maintain and check guiding vehicles and equipment
• Build rapport with guests to enhance their overall safari experience
• Assist with general guiding-team duties and reserve conservation initiatives as required
• Uphold the lodge's standards of hospitality and professionalism at all times

This is a live-in position

Pay: R7 500,00 - R12 000,00 per month
