Job Context
DP World is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Field Sales Executive (Business Development) to drive business growth across designated territories. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, acquiring new customers, growing existing accounts, and achieving agreed revenue targets within the Freight Forwarding business.
This role requires a commercially focused sales professional with extensive experience in International Freight Forwarding, capable of building strong customer relationships, developing strategic sales opportunities, and positioning DP World as the preferred logistics partner. The incumbent will work closely with Operations, Product, and Commercial teams to deliver customer-focused logistics solutions and support sustainable business growth.
Key Performance Areas (KPAs)
Business Development & Sales Growth
- Identify, target, and acquire new customers within the assigned geographic region.
- Develop and execute sales plans to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
- Prospect, qualify, and convert new business opportunities.
- Promote the full range of DP World Freight Forwarding services and solutions.
- Increase market share through strategic customer acquisition and account development.
- Follow up on quotations and proposals to maximize conversion rates.
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
- Understand customer supply chain requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Collaborate with operations and internal stakeholders to ensure excellent customer service delivery.
- Identify opportunities to increase business within existing customer accounts.
- Support customer retention through proactive engagement and relationship management.
Sales Planning and Market Intelligence
- Conduct regular market research to identify new business opportunities and industry trends.
- Monitor competitor activities and provide relevant market intelligence to management.
- Analyse customer needs and align solutions to support business objectives.
- Contribute to sales and growth strategies within the assigned territory.
Sales Activity Management
- Conduct a minimum of eight (8) customer engagements per week.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and opportunities within MDS.
- Manage the sales pipeline and ensure all opportunities are regularly updated.
- Ensure accurate revenue forecasting and opportunity tracking.
Reporting and Performance Management
- Prepare and submit monthly sales reports and pipeline updates.
- Analyse sales opportunities and provide insights on emerging market trends.
- Communicate potential customer risks, changes, or developments to management.
- Provide accurate sales data to support business reporting and performance measurement.
Data Quality and System Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records.
- Ensure customer contact details, revenue projections, and opportunity information are correctly captured.
- Adhere to naming conventions and data quality standards within MDS.
- Identify and resolve data quality issues to improve reporting accuracy.
Qualifications Required
- Matric (Grade 12).
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Marketing Management, Business Management, or a related field.
- Relevant Freight Forwarding or Logistics qualification will be advantageous.
Technical Knowledge
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Knowledge of CargoWise One and CRM systems will be advantageous.
Skills and Experience Required
- Minimum of 5–8 years' experience in International Freight Forwarding, Logistics, or Supply Chain Sales.
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
- Strong understanding of Import and Export procedures.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Incoterms and international logistics processes.
- Experience in new business development, customer acquisition, and account management.
- Excellent sales, negotiation, and business development skills.
- Strong customer relationship management capability.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Strong networking and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within a team environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
