Job description
Position: Field Service Mechanic – Forklifts
Location: Johannesburg
Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Trade Tested Forklift Mechanic / Earthmoving Mechanic / Diesel Mechanic
- Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience repairing forklifts / material handling equipment
- Experience working independently in the field
- Forklift OEM Training will be an advantage
- Have own tools for repairs
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical diagnostic ability
- Valid drivers license
- Willingness to work overtime and standby when required
Responsibilities:
- Carry out scheduled maintenance services according to manufacturer specifications
- Attend breakdown calls within required response times
- Diagnose faults accurately
- Complete repairs efficiently with minimal downtime
- Perform operational testing following repairs
- Conduct load test inspections where required
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections
- Identify worn or unsafe components
- Ensure equipment is safe before returning it to service
- Diagnose diesel, LPG and electric forklifts
- Perform advanced electrical fault finding
- Diagnose transmission and hydraulic system failures
- Repair steering, brake, mast and drive systems
- Interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Generate quotation requests
- Complete job cards accurately
- Capture inspection findings
