Field Service Site Manager

Role Purpose

As a Field Service Site Manager at BMG, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of site operations, including safety management, project planning, performance reporting, and team management. You will ensure compliance with safety regulations, drive productivity and efficiency, and maintain strong client relationships. This role requires excellent leadership, communication, and technical skills to effectively manage the site team and deliver successful outcomes.

MEASURES OF EFFECTIVENESS/SUCCESS

1. Communication

• Represent the company in all forms of communication, maintaining good working relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders, external suppliers, and clients.
• Respond to and follow up on all enquiries by email, telephone and personal visits as required.
• Responsibility for building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrate a strong customer service focus and quality communication and output in all interactions with key stakeholders and external contacts
• All query requests are responded to within 24 hours.
• Communications with all stakeholders are professional.
• Management feedback
• All internal and external reports are accurate and delivered by the deadline.

2. Safety Management

• Serve as the legal appointee responsible for site safety management system compliance.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits and address any safety concerns or violations promptly.

3. Daily task planning and Liaison

• Plan daily tasks and activities in coordination with site supervisors and management to meet project deadlines and objectives.
• Liaise with stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers, and clients, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

4. Performance reporting

• Compile monthly management reports detailing contract and site performance, including safety metrics, project milestones, and financial performance.
• Analyse data and identify areas for improvement or optimization to drive operational efficiency.

5. Project Management

• Manage and implement improvement projects to enhance site operations, productivity, and safety.
• Coordinate project activities, resources, and timelines to ensure successful project outcomes.

6. Conveyer system inspections

• Conduct detailed inspections of conveyor systems and equipment to assess performance, identify issues, and recommend maintenance or repairs.
• Compile monthly conveyor system health reports and implement corrective actions as needed.

7. Sales and client communications

• Drive product sales across all business units by identifying client needs and promoting BMG products and services.
• Maintain excellent client communication and relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.

8. Team Management

• Manage a team of site supervisors, technicians, and support staff, and foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and accountability.
• Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to enhance team performance and skills.

9. Administrative tasks

• Utilize administrative skills to manage safety systems, including record-keeping, documentation, and compliance management.
• Ensure that administrative processes and procedures are followed consistently and accurately.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION:

• National Certificate NQF4
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES FOR THE POSITION:

• Proven experience (4 years) in a management role, preferably in site operations or project management.
• Strong understanding of BMG engineering products – Drives, Belting, Hydraulics and VSD
• Strong understanding of safety management systems and regulations.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
• Proficiency in project management tools and software.
• Willingness to work after hours as this roles supervises a site breakdown function
• Technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various sites as needed.
