Die Position

At Roche, we believe care should start before disease takes hold. In this critical leadership role based in Cape Town, you will manage the team and daily production operations of life-saving diagnostic reagents at Roche DIA Cape Town. By overseeing manufacturing priorities, resource capacities, and team development, you will directly ensure that high-quality products are delivered seamlessly to global health systems when patients need them most.

As a Filling& Labeling Team Lead , you will:

  • Manage and supervise day-to-day operations of their area of responsibility, coordinating the scheduling and ensuring execution of Filling, Labeling and Transfer to logistics procedures and deliverables. Ensures that related inventory is properly maintained and available for usage or transfer.
  • Responsible for the accuracy, quality and timelines of production activities to ensure product supply. Resolves scheduling conflicts and production issues in order to meet production and replenishment demand. Monitoring and organizing overtime for the department to meet Adherence to Production schedule targets. Communicates with the other manufacturing groups on material availability requirements to ensure production targets are met.
  • Ensures that the work group performs work according to established internal safety guidelines and procedures, and as specified by appropriate external regulatory agencies (e.g. FDA, ISO). Ensures that any component manufacturing complaints (internal within Roche or from customers) are addressed quickly. Leads investigations, form conclusions and makes recommendations, provides or implements process improvements and document improvements.
  • Manages staff including performance management and career development guidance for direct reports. Ensures that all staff are trained on the required SOPs, monitor and ensure that they are compliant. Also provides any other appropriate training and development opportunities for staff. Provides developmental plans for direct reports and conducts on-going performance management activities.
  • Ensures that resource and equipment capacities required to perform the required production activities meets the immediate and long term needs for component manufacturing. Provides detailed outlook of the capacity utilization for their area of responsibility; propose and implement solutions to mitigate any gaps in capacity to support supply demands in the monthly S reviews.
  • Maintains control of work group expenses within limits of DOA. Determines the required resource requirements for the component production activities to meet business needs in the yearly budgeting process.
  • Serves as a technical resource and mentor to the members of the work group. Ensures that Component related documents are created, revised and appropriate or aligned with current practices to comply with quality standards.
  • Participates in global projects where required or leads Cape town operations or department projects to support operations or departmental goals.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Who You Are

To set yourself up for success, you bring:

  • Education: A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or related discipline
  • Experience: 4 years of relevant experience in production, manufacturing or related field, of which at least 2 years is in supervisor/management or leading/directing people. Proven record of managing a team exceeding 10 people in a diagnostics, biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical operations.
