Job description
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Finance & Operations Administrator to support the financial and administrative functions of a growing startup business. This role requires a hands-on individual with strong accounting knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities across finance, operations, and general administration.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial integrity, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting day-to-day business operations.

Key Responsibilities
Financial & Accounting Duties

Perform day-to-day bookkeeping, including capturing and maintaining accurate financial records

Process and reconcile the cashbook on a regular basis

Prepare and submit SARS returns (VAT, PAYE, and other statutory submissions)

Manage accounts receivable and payable, including invoicing, collections, and supplier payments
-
Assist with monthly and year-end financial close processes
-
Prepare and maintain accurate financial reports and schedules

Perform intercompany reconciliations and ensure accurate recording of intercompany transactions

Support budgeting, forecasting, and basic financial analysis where required

Maintain proper audit trails and supporting documentation

Procurement & Operational Support
-
Manage procurement processes, including supplier purchase orders, and cost tracking

Monitor stock or service purchases where applicable

Ensure cost-effective purchasing and adherence to company policies
-
Liaise with suppliers to resolve discrepancies and maintain strong relationships

Stakeholder & Subsidiary Liaison

Liaise with director and subsidiaries to ensure smooth operational and financial coordination

Provide finance and operational support to other group companies as directed by the Head of Group Finance

Collaborate with external stakeholders such as auditors, tax consultants, and service providers

Administrative & Office Management
-
Provide general office administration support, including filing, record-keeping, and document management
-
Maintain organised financial and operational documentation systems
-
Assist with scheduling, correspondence, and internal coordination
-
Support compliance with company policies and procedures

Compliance & Governance
-
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including tax and financial reporting standards
-
Assist with the preparation of documentation for audits and regulatory reviews

Maintain confidentiality and integrity of financial information

Minimum Requirements
-
Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
-
3–5 years’ experience in a similar all-round accounting or finance role

Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles and accounting practices

Experience with SARS submissions and South African tax requirements

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar)

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
