Job description
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Finance Intern will provide administrative and operational support to the Finance team while gaining practical experience in a busy finance environment.
The role is intended to develop the intern's understanding of accounting processes, reconciliations, creditors and debtors, financial controls, reporting and general finance administration.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounts Payable / Creditors
- Assist with capturing supplier invoices and credit notes.
- Check invoices against supporting documentation.
- Assist with supplier statement reconciliations.
- Follow up on outstanding invoices and documentation.
- Assist with preparation of supplier payment information.
- Maintain accurate electronic and physical finance records.
Accounts Receivable / Debtors
- Assist with capturing and allocating customer payments.
- Assist with debtor reconciliations.
- Assist with following up on outstanding accounts where required.
- Assist with preparing debtor statements and supporting documentation.
- Help investigate differences and incorrect allocations.
Bank & Cashbook
- Assist with capturing bank transactions.
- Assist with bank reconciliations.
- Help identify and investigate unreconciled transactions.
- Maintain supporting documentation for transactions.
Financial Administration
- Capture financial information accurately and timeously.
- Assist with processing journals under supervision.
- Assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
- Assist with filing, scanning and maintaining finance documentation.
- Assist with expense and credit-card reconciliations.
- Assist with checking supporting documentation for payments and expenses.
Month-End & Reporting
- Support the Finance team during month-end processes.
- Assist with preparing reconciliations and schedules.
- Assist with gathering information required for management accounts.
- Help investigate variances and outstanding reconciling items.
- Assist with preparing supporting information for audits.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure financial documents are complete and appropriately authorised.
- Follow company financial policies, procedures and approval processes.
- Assist with maintaining accurate records for audit and compliance purposes.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and employee information.
General
- Respond to finance-related queries and refer complex matters to the appropriate team member.
- Work collaboratively with Finance, HR, Sales, Operations and other departments.
- Participate in training and development opportunities.
- Perform other reasonable finance-related duties as required.
Pay: From R3 500,00 per month
