FINANCE MANAGER

Large Manufacturing Company

Position Overview

A large, established manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to take responsibility for the organisation’s financial management, reporting, controls and compliance. The candidate will report to the Finance Director.

This is a senior finance position requiring a strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, costing and commercial finance within a complex operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full finance function and oversee day-to-day financial operations.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Manage annual budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Monitor actual performance against budgets and provide detailed variance analysis.
• Oversee cash flow management and working capital requirements.
• Manage and review debtors, creditors and general ledger functions.
• Ensure accurate balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls.
• Oversee manufacturing costing, including product costing, standard costing, overhead allocation and cost variances.
• Analyse production costs, margins, profitability and operational expenditure.
• Monitor inventory valuation, stock movements, provisions and stock controls.
• Work closely with operations and production management to identify opportunities for cost reduction and improved profitability.
• Ensure appropriate internal financial controls, policies and procedures are maintained.
• Manage statutory and regulatory financial compliance requirements.
• Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
• Oversee tax-related financial information and submissions.
• Prepare financial information and reports for senior management and the Board.
• Provide financial analysis to support commercial and operational decision-making.
• Manage, mentor and oversee the finance team.
• Ensure financial systems and processes are efficient, accurate and appropriately controlled.

Minimum Requirements

• BCom Honours in Accounting, Finance or a related field – essential.
• Minimum 8–10 years' relevant finance experience, including solid experience at Finance Manager or senior financial management level.
• Previous experience within a medium to large manufacturing or industrial environment is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing costing and inventory accounting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience working with ERP/accounting systems.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and internal controls.
• Proven experience managing a finance team.

Key Competencies

Strong financial and commercial acumen, analytical ability and attention to detail are essential. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a high-volume, operationally complex manufacturing environment and be able to translate financial information into meaningful business insights.

Strong leadership, problem-solving and communication skills are required, together with the ability to engage confidently with senior management, operational teams, auditors and other stakeholders.

Key Performance Areas

Performance will be measured against the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, budget and forecast management, cash-flow and working-capital management, manufacturing cost control, inventory accuracy, compliance, audit readiness, effectiveness of internal controls and overall performance of the finance function.

Pay: R469 481,34 - R800 000,00 per year
