Finance Officer

About the Role

Based at our Franschhoek office, the Finance Officer will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business while ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial records. Working closely with management and the finance team, you will assist in maintaining strong financial controls, ensuring compliance, and supporting informed business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily bookkeeping and finance administration.
• Process and reconcile bank, supplier and customer accounts.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure transactions are correctly allocated.
• Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes.
• Prepare management reports and support financial analysis.
• Process payroll and assist with payroll administration.
• Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
• Assist with VAT returns, statutory submissions and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain financial information using Xero, Microsoft Excel and internal systems.
• Monitor cash flow and assist with accounts payable and receivable.
• Identify and resolve financial discrepancies promptly.
• Support continuous improvement of finance processes and internal controls.
• Provide general administrative support to the finance department.

Minimum Requirements

• 3–5 years' experience in a finance, accounting or bookkeeping role.
• Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance or Bookkeeping.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
• Proven experience using Xero (essential).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with payroll processing will be advantageous.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must reside in, or be willing to commute to, Franschhoek, Paarl or Wellington.
