Financial Accountant (Contract)

Position : Financial AccountantLocation : Celrose, TongaatReporting to : Finance Manager, Celrose (Pty) Ltd

Purpose of the job

Management of General Ledger, production of accurate financial records and statements and controlling treasury, debtors, fixed assets, payroll and supply chain management for Celrose.

Responsibilities:

- Introduction and maintenance of Systems – General ledger – audit processes, adherence to standard practice

- Assisting with management accounting duties

- Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations have been prepared and agreed to trial balance

- Ensure monthly VAT are calculated accurately and paid timeously

- Preparation of annual financial statements, tax pack and insurance declaration

- Preparation and co-ordination of annual audit ensuring timeous production of Annual Financial Statements

- Manage weekly cash flow

- Produce monthly financial statements timeously and accurately

- Tax Computations & Reconciliation of fixed assets

- Review monthly debtor & supplier reconciliations

- Ensure accurate and timeous payment of creditors invoices, daily balancing of interface and all creditors exception reports are investigated and actioned timeously

- Manage all banking transactions and liaise with bankers where necessary

- Management of the debtor’s book ensuring adequate insurance and minimize bad debts

- Ensure accurate and timeous payment of overseas creditors

- Recovery of all overseas supplier claims

- Management of foreign exchange exposure and import documentation

- Provide timeous and accurate risk information to merchandisers to ensure accurate forward costings

- Manage Fixed Asset Register ensuring that all assets are accurately and timeously recorded

- Manage all legal proceedings for recovery of bad debt.

- Monitor all out of line areas and make recommendations on corrective measures

- Review all commission reports ensuring compliance with agreements

- Establish and maintain financial controls for all divisions

- Prepare and monitor staff Performance Agreements

- Training and development of staff

Qualifications:

· A recognised accounting qualification e.g. B Com. Study towards CA would be an advantage

· PC Literacy – MS Office

Experience:

- At least 3 years managerial experience in a financial environment & financial accounting experience.

- Management Accounting experience within a manufacturing/factory environment would be advantageous.

Competencies / skills:

- Knowledge of accounting procedures & Controlling and reconciliation of general ledger

- Monitoring inventory investigations

- Identifying and implementing financial controls

- Compiling financial reports & Interpreting and analyzing management accounts

- Handling HR issues for people reporting in & Liaising with stakeholders

- Organizational alertness, advanced calculation skills, good communication and customer orientation and analytical thinking, effort focusing, be ability to evaluate and give feedback

- Monitoring bad debt
