Key Job Summary Performance

The Assistant Finance Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the accounting and finance function, ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of financial information and reporting. The incumbent will be responsible for managing month-end processes, supervising finance staff, maintaining effective financial controls, assisting with statutory and compliance requirements, and supporting the Finance Manager with budgeting, forecasting and business reporting.

Key Performance Areas

Monthly management accounts prepared and submitted by the 5th working day of each month. No material errors identified in monthly reporting packs.

• Balance sheet reconciliations completed and reviewed monthly with all reconciling items older than 30 days investigated and resolved. Month-end close completed within agreed timelines. Year-end audit schedules prepared and submitted within agreed deadlines. Minimal audit adjustments arising from poor preparation or unreconciled balances. Weekly cash flow forecast prepared and submitted every Friday. Significant cash flow variances investigated and reported to the Finance Manager. Adequate liquidity maintained to meet operational commitments. VAT, PAYE and other statutory submissions submitted accurately and on time. No penalties, interest or compliance findings resulting from inaccurate submissions. SARS queries attended to within required deadlines. Supplier payments processed within agreed payment terms. Debtor and creditor reconciliations reviewed monthly. Outstanding queries and unreconciled items resolved timely. Support reduction of overdue debtors and improvement in working capital management. Annual budgets and forecasts prepared within agreed timelines. Monthly variance analysis completed with explanations provided for significant variances. Manage the performance of the creditors team, ensuring supplier reconciliations are reviewed monthly, payments are processed within agreed terms, queries are resolved timely, and departmental deadlines are consistently achieved.

Qualifications Requirements

• BCom Accounting, BCompt, Accounting Degree or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 5 years' accounting experience.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a senior accounting or supervisory role.
• Experience preparing management accounts.
• Strong understanding of VAT and statutory compliance requirements.

Pay: R30 000,00 - R35 000,00 per month
