Job Advert Summary

PG Bison, a proudly South African leader in the decorative wood panel industry, is seeking a motivated and experienced Financial Accountant to join our Finance Department at our Boksburg Site. To support the Finance function through accurate financial accounting, reconciliations, procurement governance, financial reporting and finance administration, while ensuring effective financial controls, compliance and adherence to company policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification
• Completed articles advantageous
• 3-5 years relevant accounting experience
• Strong understanding of financial accounting principles
• Month-end and balance sheet reconciliation experience
• Experience processing journals, accruals and provisions
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• ERP experience (SAP advantageous)
• Good understanding of procurement and expenditure controls
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good organisational and time management skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare and process accurate journal entries, accruals, provisions and month-end accounting adjustments in line with accounting standards and company policies.
• Support the month-end and year-end financial close processes, ensuring all accounting activities are completed accurately and within required deadlines.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances and ensure outstanding reconciling items are resolved promptly.
• Review general ledger transactions and account balances to ensure accuracy, completeness and integrity of financial information.
• Assist with the preparation and maintenance of bad debt, provisions and other financial support schedules.
• Review purchase requisitions, supplier invoices and supporting documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance with procurement requirements.
• Monitor expenditure against delegated authority levels and support adherence to procurement and financial governance processes.
• Follow up on outstanding approvals, invoices, reconciliations and accounting queries, ensuring timely resolution.
• Prepare recurring financial reports, management schedules and financial information to support business decision-making.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, including the collection, validation and analysis of financial data.
• Provide support with cost analysis, financial performance reporting and ad hoc financial information requests.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting, accounting processes and administrative efficiencies.
• Support internal and external audit processes by preparing audit schedules, supporting documentation and responding to audit queries.
• Assist with the implementation and monitoring of internal financial controls to ensure compliance and mitigate financial risks.
• Support customer onboarding documentation reviews and ensure required financial information is complete and compliant.
• Ensure consistent adherence to finance policies, procedures, accounting standards and governance requirements.
• Maintain accurate and well-organised financial records and supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with Finance, Procurement and other business functions to resolve financial queries and ensure effective service delivery.
