Response Carenet Health is looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our growing Finance team in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
This is a hands-on, standalone accounting role offering exposure to an international group across South Africa, the Netherlands, UK and USA.
If you're a technically strong accountant who enjoys working across the full accounting cycle, solving problems and having real ownership of your work — we want to hear from you.
WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
You will work closely with the Finance Director and take ownership of key accounting activities, including:
Monthly & year-end financial close
General ledger & trial balance
Bank & balance sheet reconciliations
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
Journals, accruals & prepayments
Payment runs & supplier onboarding
Customer invoicing & receipt allocations
VAT returns & SARS eFiling
Multi-currency transactions & FX revaluations Intercompany reconciliations
Fixed assets & depreciation
Payroll journals & reconciliations

Management accounts & group consolidation
Audit schedules & audit readiness
Financial variance investigations
Finance process & control improvements
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for someone with:

3–5 years' hands-on accounting experience
BCom Accounting, National Diploma in Financial Accounting or equivalent
Strong AP, AR, GL, bank reconciliation & trial balance experience
Solid knowledge of journals, accruals and prepayments
Experience with multi-currency and intercompany accounting
Experience with VAT returns and SARS eFiling
Strong Excel skills — Pivot Tables, Lookups & large-data reconciliations
Experience working on a recognised accounting system
Excellent attention to detail and deadline management
Strong communication skills
High levels of integrity, confidentiality and discretion
ADVANTAGEOUSSAIPA | SAICA | CIMA | ACCA progression
Plus exposure to:
IFRS UK
GAAP Dutch GAAP
US GAAP International groups
BPO / Shared Services High-volume, multi-entity environments
