Purpose of the Position:
To deliver accurate, timely, compliant, and efficient financial accounting and reporting services that support business decision-making and statutory requirements.
Key Performance Objectives Tasks Financial close and Reporting process

Responsible for the month end and year end reporting

Provide direction, oversight and management to the team
-
Collaborate with business partners and other Shared Services departments to ensure an accurate and efficient month end close

Oversee the reviewing and approving journals and ensure accurate processing in SAP
-
Accountable for Standard Reporting for Revenue, Decoder Insurance, Stock & Subsidy and fixed assets

Oversee the monthly HFM process including Loading Numbers, Validations, clearing mismatches, Disclosures and Promotions – Ensure accurate Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cashflow

Manage the effectiveness of the intercompany reporting process, including transactions, confirmations and clearing of mismatches

Consult with the Tax Team on applicable matters related to month end close

Ensure that Balance Sheet accounts are accurately recorded and reconciled as per the reconciliation policy. Review balance sheet reconciliations, ensure adequate supporting documentation to substantiate the balances, identify issues and action plans to resolve

Lead the external audit process to ensure reporting timelines are met and all audit complexities are resolved and cleared up within required timelines

Lead the preparation of reporting packs and disclosures at interim and year end. Assess disclosures required, create templates and automated reports

Manage the Annual Financial Statement process

Drive and monitor KPIs and implement initiatives to ensure improvements. Ensure that all relevant and strategic KPIs are reported

Standardization of Chart of Accountants and driving correct classification of GL accounts across the business
-
Initiate and manage the automation and improvement of processes such as month end and intercompany, and work towards standardisation of relevant aspects such as reports, data analysis etc.

Work with cross functional teams in the shared services and business to ensure compliance, accuracy and efficiency in financial areas
Governance, Controls & Policies

Take responsibility for the development, implementation and maintenance of robust controls, procedures and policies

Compile and update risk control matrix and ensure relevant controls implemented to mitigate these risks and ensure compliance to internal control framework

Identification of control weaknesses and recommendations for improvements
-
Ensure compliance to policies, internal controls and external/internal audits
-
Support internal audits and ensure that any findings are resolved
-
Ensure that all external audit findings are addressed and relevant controls/remediations are implemented
-
Enforce governance of the intercompany policy and recommend policy enhancements
Support the Finance Shared Services Innovation team in governance initiatives
People Management
-
Develop a high performing team by embedding formal performance management process and informal coaching. Encourage frequent knowledge sharing between team members.

Determine and analyse development needs for the team and ensure that identified training requirements are budgeted for and executed.

Interview and recruit new members of the team, including determining appropriate compensation levels with input from Human Resources.

Create effective workforce and recruitment demand plans to ensure that current and future business requirements can be met.
-
When required, initiate disciplinary processes for team members calling on support from Human Resources when required.

Resolve grievances raised by team members and escalate only if required.

Address poor performance of any team member through the formal Performance improvement programme and ensure that continued poor performance is appropriately dealt with.

Motivate team members and ensure that their efforts are recognized.

Experience / Skills

A Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in a similar role

Solid People management skills

Share services experience advantageous

Technical knowledge of current IFRS updates
