Role Headline Accounting Competence provides internal and external stakeholders with financial information. We are looking for a Chartered Accountant to join our Accounting & Controlling team. The successful candidate will be responsible for statutory financial reporting, audit management, monthly Group reporting, and period-end closing activities. This position requires strong technical accounting expertise, a business partnering mindset, and the ability to drive compliance, reporting quality, and process excellence across the organisation. Responsibilities of the Role* Serves as a key accounting partner to the business by providing guidance and resolution of accounting-related queries and ensuring adherence to accounting policies and standards.
- Assists with monthly Group reporting requirements, including preparation, review, analysis, and submission of reporting packages in accordance with Siemens reporting guidelines and timelines.
- Prepares and supports with the preparation of financial statements according to relevant accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP, local standards etc.) for Lead Country South Africa, Branches, Subsidiaries, Trusts and Related Companies
- Fully plans, prepares, and consolidates balance sheet and profit or loss (P&L) statements and reports and prepares presentations
- Supports and coordinates monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely accounting records and reporting.
- Takes ownership of HR accounting processes, including payroll-related accounting, employee benefits, provisions, accruals, and related balance sheet reconciliations, working closely with the People & Organization (P&O) function.
- Fully manages the audit process for the entities that have been allocated and reports timely and regularly to management on the progress and status of the audits and manages relationships with the Auditors
- Prepares or collates supporting information and performs reviews for quarterly local reporting
- Contributes with analyses relevant for annual financial statements including analysis and evaluation of assets and liabilities to ensure compliance with IFRS and Siemens Specific guidelines
- Keeps abreast with changes of internal guidelines and external accounting standards, and prepares and presents training on accounting related topics and changes to/new accounting standards
- Issue and implement new accounting guidelines/process documents
- Plans and prepares budgets and forecasts as required, e.g., corporate/business units
- Journal processing, goods receipting, CISS management and data maintenance support
- Support with non-routine transactions such as due diligence, mergers/acquisitions, business carve ins/outs etc.
- Ensures compliance with risk and internal controls related to the accounting and controlling function
- Provides support to colleagues in the Branch (African) countries or support related to the Branch (African) countries
Qualifications and Experience
- Chartered Accountant CA(SA) or equivalent
- 3-5 years post articles experience
- Deep professional know-how and experience with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Able to critically analyse a situation and then to explain the outcome and the rationale for the solution
- Working knowledge of SAP and Esprit is advantageous
- Ability to quickly develop a detailed business understanding and how responsibilities fit into the bigger picture
