Financial Services Reporting Accountant

About the Role Confluent Services, a Financial Services group based in Cape Town, seeks a newly qualified CA(SA) to join the finance team as the Financial Services Finance lead. The successful candidate reports to the Head of Financial Services Finance, with a dotted line to the Head of Finance Operations and direct visibility to the Group CFO.

Primary focus is reporting, and supporting the insurance business through finance and insurance operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Services : Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • Review monthly premiums and provide detail analytics and commentary
  • Review monthly claims paid and reserve requirements
  • Review of inwards and external reinsurance premiums and claim recoveries for all cell parties.
  • Responsible to ensure all cash processes are appropriately monitored.
  • Responsible to prepare and produce monthly insurance reporting to group finance.
  • Responsible to ensure all processes between external stakeholders and FS Finance is operating effectively.
  • Communicate insurance results to external and internal stakeholders with commentary.
  • Produce and present financial review inserts for management committee and board meetings.
  • Continuously assess reporting processes and workbooks for opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy, including through automation and AI tooling.

Requirements

  • Newly or recently qualified CA(SA)
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong planning, organising and time management skills
  • Able to work independently and manage competing deadlines
  • Self-motivated; takes initiative and ownership
  • Comfortable building processes and structure from scratch
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Conducts themselves with integrity and professionalism

Advantageous

  • Exposure to financial services and insurance related experience
  • Proficient in Excel; interest in automation and AI tooling
  • Prior experience working with data analysts or BI tools
  • Experience building or improving month-end reporting processes
