Finishing Machine Operator

Purpose of the role

We are looking for a versatile individual with the capability to run and / or have knowledge of conversion machinery (Strech, Shrink, Rewind & Slitting Machines) and have comprehensive knowledge of product mix offered by MCC Label Durban.

In this exciting role you will:

• Operate and monitor the conversion machines in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Set up and adjust the machine to ensure optimal performance and product quality.
• Conduct quality inspections and record production data.
• Perform routine machine cleaning and basic maintenance.
• Identify and report machine faults, defects, or safety concerns promptly.
• Minimize waste and downtime through efficient machine operation.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in line with 5S principles.
• Assist with changeovers and other production activities as required.
• Work collaboratively with production, maintenance, and quality teams.
• Be open to multi-skilling.

To succeed in this role, you will require:

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
• Previous experience operating a conversion machine or similar production machinery in a manufacturing environment. (seaming/sealing machinery advantageous)
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform basic machine adjustments.
• Good understanding of quality standards and production processes.
• Ability to read and complete production documentation accurately.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and public holidays when required.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
