To manage and deliver defined Transport and Trunking operational processes within the agreed service levels, as well as effectively managing costs through operational excellence. Based in our dynamic operations hub, you will manage and optimize key processes including receiving, picking, despatch, and inventory management to exceed service levels while controlling costs. You will lead a dedicated team, champion continuous improvement, and build strong stakeholder relationships across transport, trunking, cross-docking, and equipment centers. Minimum Requirements
What theoretical knowledge (e.g., degree / diploma) does the job require?
- Matric or Grade 12 certificate is compulsory.
- Three-year logistics/commerce diploma or equivalent NQF level 6 advanced certificate/ Diploma is advantageous.
What experience (e.g., previous exposure) does the job require?
- Relevant management or supervisory experience.
- 3-Year relevant Supply Chain working experience in a managerial function is compulsory.
- Quality assurance background is advantageous e.g., Six Sigma.
- Experience in Retail/FMCG environment is advantageous.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend DC Invocom and/or handover meetings.
- Provide input to executing the business unit’s 1 year operating plan, budget and scorecard through a continuous improvement mindset.
- Building, integrating and maintaining relationships with all stakeholders in line with SLA’s to achieve operational excellence e.g., DC, Stores, Suppliers and Equipment Centres.
- Manage third-party Transport logistics.
- Assist in managing stores that do not meet the Transport turnaround target consistently and provide detailed reports to the line manager.
- Manage and ensure end to end process compliance (i.e., Vehicle full utilization, Vehicles on bay as per planned time), against the documented process standards.
- Manage the use of all resources to ensure operational excellence (e.g., Drivers availability, Shunting trucks, ensures Buns and Bars are available on each vehicle)
- Demonstrate effective leadership aligned to the Woolworths Values in order to ensure the delivery of the operational scorecard.
- Contribute towards the delivery of the BU Employment Equity targets.
- Manage employee relations in line with sound people principles and strategy.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and legislation (e.g., OHASA and SHE programme) in line with corporate governance.
