Job description
Purpose Statement
· To perform PDI’s, repairs, maintenance, and services on client and rental equipment in accordance to OEM required standards and timelines.
· To perform fitting and turning tasks including assembling, repairing, and maintaining mechanical components of access equipment to ensure optimal operational efficiency and safety

Main Outputs and Responsibilities for This Position

RESPONSIBILITY
PDI’s / Service / Repairs
· Maintain Various equipment operational by completing regular inspections and functional procedures as defined from time to time and complete service tasks, correcting equipment deficiencies, adjusting and alignments, check and maintain mine spec requirements if required
· Determine equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts and reporting as may be required
· Keeps equipment available for use by monitoring and completing services, installing components, parts, oil, water and upgrades when required and control corrosion
· Verify equipment performance by conducting predefined functional tests, adjusting controls and systems
· Keep record of completed jobs. Conform with OEM standards and equipment requirements by ensuring up-to-date documentation are available upon request - services and safety stickers/decals, on-board documentation, documentation regarding engine services, hydraulic services, load test, load test inspections and mine specific documentation as well as site specific documentation
· Keep operational tools and spares for, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance and for calling-in repairs
· Repair and maintain assets as per the standard times set as benchmark in the department.
· Communicate and attain approval for all time spent more than benchmarks.
· Preventative maintenance is to be carried out to prevent breakdowns.
· Identify and log all snags. Should the snag be critical the unit must be reported and operation stopped by ensuring the status does not turn to green.
· Carry out major repairs on units.
· Machining of pins and bushes for machines as required.
Quality of work
· Pre-and post-inspections on customer and rental equipment to be completed each time the unit is checked.
· Quality of work must ensure no returns on work performed within 6-month period, unless customer damage can be proven.
Cost Saving
· Ensure cost effective repairs done on assets.
· Ensure quick and efficient turn-around on repairs to reduce machine down time.
Administrative accuracy and timing
· Ensure job card/Work sheet is completed with all necessary details and paperwork to be handed in daily.
· Completion of jobs on D365 app.
General
· Housekeeping – Ensure work area is tidy as per standard always.
· Health and Safety – Adhere and enforce all health and safety standards and policies in the organization.
· Establish & maintain a safe work environment always.
· Ensure proper maintenance of engineering tools and equipment at all time and use the correct tools as prescribed.
· Correct PPE to be used always.
· Ensure all PPE and safety based equipment is checked and repaired / replaced before use.
· Ensure company policies and procedures are adhered to within department.
Any other lawful and reasonable outputs and responsibilities that may be required.
Qualifications
Minimum
Grade 12 or N3
Recommended
- Trade Tested Fitter and Turner (Red Seal Certificate or equivalent).
- Trade qualification as Millwright, Auto Electrician and Fitter and Turner
- Working at heights / material handling / underground mining equipment training.
Experience
· Minimum 8 years’ work experience as a Technician in a workshop environment
· Experience in working on working at heights / material handling / underground mining equipment
Knowledge
· MEWP and Material Handling Equipment Technical product knowledge
· Knowledge of working at heights / material handling / underground mining machinery and equipment
· Industry specific knowledge i.e. mining, construction, light & heavy industrial
· OSHAS and safety industry regulations
· PDI system
· Housekeeping rules
