We are looking for Food Service Assistant for a unit in Pinelands

Job description:

Overview of position:

The Food Service Assistant supports daily food service operations by assisting with food preparation, service, and cleanliness. This role helps ensure meals are served efficiently, safely, and to a high standard of customer care while following food hygiene and safety procedures. The Food Service Assistant works as part of a team to deliver a positive dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with basic food preparation and meal assembly as required
• Serve food and beverages in a friendly and professional manner
• Ensure food service areas are clean, organized, and well presented
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations at all times
• Support the setup and breakdown of dining or service areas
• Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as required
• Handle food safely, including allergen awareness and portion control
• Assist with stock handling, storage, and rotation
• Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer needs

Skills & Qualifications:

• Previous experience in food service, catering, or hospitality is an advantage
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Good attention to detail and time management
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and shift work

Requirements:

• Matric
• 1-2 years previous experience as a food service assistant in retail, canteen or hospitality
• Clear criminal record
• Good communication skills
• Halaal
