We offer our clients a diverse range of catering concepts and services in the healthcare, retirement, corporate, industrial and education sector.
Overview of position:
The Food Service Assistant supports daily food service operations by assisting with food preparation, service, and cleanliness. This role helps ensure meals are served efficiently, safely, and to a high standard of customer care while following food hygiene and safety procedures. The Food Service Assistant works as part of a team to deliver a positive dining experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with basic food preparation and meal assembly as required
- Serve food and beverages in a friendly and professional manner
- Ensure food service areas are clean, organized, and well presented
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations at all times
- Support the setup and breakdown of dining or service areas
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as required
- Handle food safely, including allergen awareness and portion control
- Assist with stock handling, storage, and rotation
- Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer needs
Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in food service, catering, or hospitality is an advantage
- Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good attention to detail and time management
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and shift work
Requirements:
- Matric
- 1-2 years previous experience as a food service assistant in retail, canteen or hospitality
- Clear criminal record
- Good communication skills
