Location: eMadadeni Hospital, KwaZulu-Natal

eMadadeni Hospital is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and service-driven Food Services Assistant / Ward Hostess to join our healthcare team. This role is critical in supporting patient care through the delivery of high-quality, safe, and patient-centred meal services, ensuring a positive patient experience during their stay.

Key Responsibilities

· Serve meals and beverages to patients in line with prescribed dietary requirements

· Confirm and verify patient meal plans prior to service delivery

· Take patient meal orders and assist with menu selection where required

· Maintain strict hygiene, food safety, and infection control standards

· Ensure cleanliness of ward kitchens, food trolleys, and service areas

· Liaise with nursing staff, dietitians, and kitchen teams to ensure accurate meal service

· Monitor ward stock levels and report shortages or equipment issues

· Maintain accurate records of patient meals and complete all required documentation

Minimum Requirements

· Grade 12 / Matric

· Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in food service, catering, or hospitality

· Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare environment will be highly advantageous

· Basic knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and infection control practices

· Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

· Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment

Additional Requirements

· Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays
