Duties and responsibilities:

• Conduct objective, fair and timely forensic audits and investigations into suspected fraud, misconduct, irregularities and unethical conduct.
• Assess whistleblowing complaints and allegations to determine their nature, scope, risk, materiality and need for further investigation
• Conduct preliminary interviews with all stakeholders involved in the process to gather information.
• Develop and execute appropriate forensic audit procedures and investigation plans, including interviews and corroboration of information obtained.
• Examine financial, procurement and operational records to establish the nature, extent and impact of identified irregularities.
• Identify control weaknesses, determine whether allegations are substantiated and develop evidence-based findings and recommendations.
• Perform basic data analysis to identify irregular transactions, patterns or anomalies in data.
• Apply forensic data analytics and computer-assisted audit techniques to identify relationships, patterns, trends and potentially fraudulent activity
• Secure and preserve all relevant evidence to maintain its integrity.
• Evaluate the reliability and significance of the evidence
• Prepare clear, objective and evidence-based forensic audit reports, including the scope, methodology, findings, financial impact and recommendations.
• Present findings to appropriate management and governance structures and provide supporting information for disciplinary, civil, criminal or regulatory processes where required.
• Engage with management and relevant stakeholders on forensic audit findings, identified risks, financial irregularities and recommended actions.
• Support appropriate referral, escalation and follow-up of matters requiring disciplinary, legal, criminal or regulatory action while maintaining confidentiality.
• Perform administrative duties related to investigation, including filing, indexing and tracking case progress.

• Identify and implement opportunities to improve forensic audit methodologies, data analytics, fraud detection, investigation and prevention practices, including maintaining relevant professional competence.

Inherent requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent on NQF Level 7 in Forensic Auditing, Forensic Accounting, Internal Auditing, Accounting, Auditing or related discipline.
• Active membership of at least one recognised professional body relevant to forensic auditing, fraud examination, forensic investigation, financial crime or internal auditing (attach proof).
• Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience in forensic auditing, forensic accounting, internal auditing, external auditing, fraud examination or financial investigations.

Recommendations:

• Honours/Postgraduate Diploma on NQF Level 8 in Forensic Accounting, Forensic Auditing, Forensic Investigation, Financial Crime, Internal Auditing or related discipline.
• Relevant professional certification, including CFE, CFP®, CFCS or CIA (attach proof).
