Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Driver to join our sheet metal manufacturing facility in Pretoria. In this role, you will be responsible for moving raw metal materials, work-in-progress components, and finished metal products. You must hold a valid TETA-accredited forklift license and a valid public driving license (Code 8/B or Code 10/C1) to assist with yard management or occasional vehicle movements.

Key Responsibilities

• Material Handling: Move heavy raw materials like sheet metal, flat plates, and steel bundles safely across the factory floor.
• Line Feeding: Deliver specific metal sheets and materials to laser cutters, CNC punch presses, and bending machines to keep production running smoothly.
• Finished Goods Removal: Transport completed sheet metal fabrications and enclosures to the powder coating or dispatch areas.
• Safe Stacking: Stack sheet metal pallets and stillages securely, ensuring flat metal loads do not shift or slide.
• Yard & Vehicle Movements: Use your public driving license to move company vehicles or delivery trucks within the yard if required.
• Equipment Inspection: Conduct daily pre-operational safety checks on the forklift, paying extra attention to fork condition and lifting capacities.
• Waste Management: Assist in moving scrap metal bins and off-cuts to designated recycling or disposal zones.

Requirements

• Forklift License: Must hold a valid TETA-accredited Forklift Driver certification (F1–F4 classifications preferred).
• Driver's License: Must possess a valid South African Public Driving License (Minimum Code 8/B, though Code 10/C1 with a PrDP is highly advantageous).
• Location: Must reside in Pretoria with reliable transport to the manufacturing site.
• Education: Matric certificate.
• Industry Experience: Minimum of 2 years of forklift experience, ideally within sheet metal, steel fabrication, or heavy manufacturing environments.
• Load Awareness: Experience handling wide, awkward, or high-tonnage loads (like long metal pallets or heavy coils).
• Safety Mindset: Strict adherence to OHSA regulations, especially regarding sharp edges, heavy lifting overhead, and pedestrian safety on a noisy factory floor.
