Role Description The Foundation Phase Teacher Grade 3 will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering daily lessons across core subjects in accordance with the relevant curriculum and school policies. This full-time, on-site role in the City of Cape Town includes assessing learner progress, maintaining accurate records, and providing regular feedback to learners and caregivers. The teacher will create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports literacy, numeracy, and holistic development while reinforcing Islamic values and appropriate behavior. Duties include designing learning activities and classroom resources, managing classroom routines, and participating in school events, staff meetings, and professional development. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to support learner support initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
Qualifications
- Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Education) with specialization in Foundation Phase, and registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate teaching authority.
- Strong classroom management and lesson planning skills, including the ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and maintain an orderly, engaging learning environment.
- Proficiency in teaching core Foundation Phase subjects, particularly literacy and numeracy, with effective use of assessment strategies to monitor and support learner progress.
- Clear, professional communication skills for interacting with learners, caregivers, and colleagues, including the ability to provide constructive feedback and maintain accurate learner records.
- Commitment to the ethos of an Islamic school environment, with respect for diversity, inclusive education practices, and the emotional and social well-being of learners.
- Organizational and time management skills to manage curriculum requirements, administrative tasks, and participation in school events and extracurricular activities.
- Basic digital literacy, including the ability to use educational technology and school communication platforms to support teaching, learning, and reporting.
- Prior experience teaching Foundation Phase learners, especially Grade 3, in a formal school setting is highly beneficial.
- Must be Sace registered.
