About the Opportunity

SMG Community Media is looking to build a dynamic freelance creative team of six Intermediate and Senior Graphic Designers with diverse creative and digital skills.

We work across a variety of creative, branding, advertising, print, digital and marketing projects and are looking for designers who can bring different strengths to the team.

This is not a fixed-salary position. Designers will work with us on a freelance, project-by-project basis and will be compensated through an agreed percentage/project fee for the projects they actively participate in.

Our freelance creative team may be assigned to projects including:

• Brand identity development
• Advertising campaigns
• Social media campaigns
• Posters, flyers and brochures
• Company profiles and presentations
• Signage and large-format artwork
• Product and packaging designs
• Digital marketing campaigns
• Website designs
• Product and branding mockups
• Video and promotional content
• Illustrations and custom creative concepts
• Client-specific marketing and design projects

Projects may require one designer or a combination of designers, depending on the skills required.

How the Freelance Structure Works

Designers will form part of our pool of 6 selected freelance creatives.

When a project is received, it will be allocated to the designer or designers whose skills are best suited to that project.

Compensation will be based on an agreed project fee or percentage structure. Only designers who actively participate in a particular project will share in the compensation for that project.

The structure is intended to reward contribution, skill and involvement rather than simply being part of the freelance team

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should have:

• Intermediate or Senior-level graphic design experience
• A strong and professional design portfolio
• Good understanding of design principles, typography, layout and branding
• Ability to interpret creative briefs
• Ability to work independently and as part of a creative team
• Ability to meet project deadlines
• Strong attention to detail
• Good communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to manage revisions and client feedback professionally
• Access to the appropriate professional design software and equipment required to complete assigned projects

Experience with software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro, CorelDRAW, Figma or similar professional creative platforms will be advantageous.

Additional Skills Are a Major Advantage

Applicants with additional capabilities in video editing, animation, web design, UI/UX, digital marketing, content creation, photography or illustration are strongly encouraged to apply.
