Only applicants with prior experience as a receptionist in a Hotel/Hostel will be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Core Responsibilities
- Guest Services: Welcome guests, process arrivals/departures, verify bookings, issue room keys, and orient guests to hostel facilities.
Operations & Teamwork
- Housekeeping Liaison: Coordinate with the cleaning team to ensure vacated beds/rooms are prepared for incoming guests.
- Security: Enforce hostel rules, manage quiet hours, and monitor security access (e.g., locking up doors at night or issuing gate codes).
- Conflict Resolution: Settle minor disputes (such as roommate conflicts or noise complaints) in a calm, diplomatic manner.
- Administrative Tasks: Manage room assignments, handle cash and card payments, balance the daily shift register, and answer inquiries via email, phone, or walk-ins.
- Concierge & Tourism: Act as a local guide by recommending restaurants, activities, and transport options. Book tours and shuttle services for guests.
- Community Building: Maintain a friendly, international atmosphere. Assist with organizing hostel events, movie nights, or group outings.

Key Requirements
- Tech Skills: Proficiency with Property Management Systems (PMS) like Cloudbeds, Hostelworld, or similar booking platforms.
- Soft Skills: High energy, empathy, patience, and strong communication skills. Must be highly adaptable.
- Languages: Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of additional languages is highly beneficial in a backpacking environment.
- Schedule Flexibility: Hostels operate 24/7. Receptionists must be willing to work shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Qualifications:
- ● Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a receptionist role.
- ● Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving skills.
- ● Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- ● Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- ● Proficient in computer software relevant to the industry (e.g. cash register systems).
- ● Working knowledge of property management systems (PMS).
