Fuel Analyst

Job Purpose

The Fuel Analyst will be responsible for analysing and controlling the organisation’s fuel consumption and expenditure, identifying abnormal fuel usage and potential fuel losses or fraud, monitoring vehicle and driver performance, and identifying opportunities to reduce overall fleet fuel costs.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse fuel consumption by vehicle, driver, depot and operating area.
• Monitor fuel efficiency against approved benchmarks.
• Identify abnormal consumption and investigate variances.
• Track fuel expenditure and cost per kilometre.
• Monitor and reconcile fuel-card transactions.
• Identify suspicious, duplicate or unauthorised fuel transactions.
• Analyse vehicle and driver performance.
• Identify opportunities to reduce fuel expenditure.
• Work with Fleet and Workshop teams to investigate high fuel consumption.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly fuel-performance and exception reports.
• Provide accurate data and insights to management to support cost-saving initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

• 2–3 years’ experience in fuel analysis, fleet administration, transport operations, logistics or financial analysis.
• Experience working with large volumes of vehicle/fuel data.
• Experience with fuel cards and fuel transaction systems.
• Good understanding of vehicle fuel consumption and fleet performance.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
  • Pivot Tables
  • XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP
  • SUMIFS/COUNTIFS
  • Power Query
  • Charts and dashboards
• Experience with Power BI or another BI platform.
• Experience with fleet-management, fuel-card or GPS/telematics systems.
• Basic SQL will be advantageous.

Ideal Qualification

Diploma/Degree in:

Additional training in Power BI, Excel, SQL or fleet management will be advantageous.
