Job description
The Haven Night Shelter Organisation (www.haven.org.za), a non –governmental organisation working to help the homeless back to a home, family and community, require a dynamic Fundraising Manager that will be based at the Head Office, 2 Napier Street, Cape Town.
The Haven Night Shelter Organisation’s method is to offer social work services, rehabilitation opportunities, family reunification services, physical care and support available to adult people living on the streets who are committed to reintegration.
The role of the Fundraising Manager is to ensure:
The development and execution of a comprehensive fundraising and marketing strategy to meet and grow the organisation’s income targets and support the growth and brand presence by leveraging their networks optimally.
This role combines traditional fundraising activities, opening new areas of funding, grant writing, donor relationship management and event coordination, with a strong emphasis on social media management, digital marketing and content creation. The individual in this role will work closely with the senior management team to ensure alignment with the organisation's overall mission and goals.
The Fundraising Manager will report to the CEO.
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree or other accredited tertiary qualification in management, preferably in Marketing and Sales.
- Proven experience and track record (5+ years) in fundraising, grant writing and marketing within the nonprofit sector.
- Proven experience in mobilising resources from corporates (CSI), individuals, local and international trust foundations and organisations.
- Noted experience in fundraising environmental scanning.
- Managing grants, contracts and budgets.
- Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on progress and results
Skills and Attributes
- Proposal development and familiarity with Results Frameworks.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Good negotiation skills and ability to secure support from various funding sectors.
- Ability to coordinate the activities of relevant teams to achieve a fundraising goal.
- Excellent time management and ability to manage conflicting demands.
- Strong knowledge of and experience working with social media platforms and digital marketing tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive and compelling messaging for a variety of audiences.
- Experience in donor relations and building strong, sustainable partnerships.
- Familiarity with compliance requirements related to nonprofit fundraising and grants.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven experience in mobilising resources from corporates (CSI), individuals, local and international trust foundations and organisations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a multi-faceted fundraising strategy, including annual campaigns, individual donations, corporate sponsorships, major gifts and special events.
- Prepare the annual Fundraising Budget for sign off.
- Research and identify grant opportunities aligned with the organisation’s mission and goals.
- Develop and implement a social media strategy that supports fundraising efforts, donor engagement and overall brand awareness.
- Oversee the creation of promotional materials, including brochures, newsletters and press releases
- Provide regular reports to the CEO and senior management team on fundraising progress, financial goals and activities.
- Build and manage a calendar of fundraising initiatives and campaigns throughout the year.
