General Ledger Accounting Specialist – Motor Industry

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented General Ledger Accounting Specialist to join our Finance team within the automotive industry.

The successful candidate will support the Senior Manager in managing the financial accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, effective general ledger management, statutory and tax compliance, strong financial controls and continuous process improvement.

This role will work closely with key business functions including Sales, Aftersales, Supply Chain, Procurement, Dealer Network and Operations, providing sound financial guidance and supporting effective business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

· Manage the general ledger and month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes.

· Prepare and review financial statements and management accounts in line with local accounting standards and Group requirements.

· Oversee accounting activities relating to vehicle sales, parts, dealer transactions, incentives, rebates, warranties, commissions and other revenue streams.

· Ensure accurate processing and reconciliation of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, accruals, provisions and fixed assets.

· Implement and maintain effective accounting policies, financial controls and governance processes.

· Partner with key business functions to provide financial guidance and support business decision-making.

· Ensure compliance with applicable VAT, Corporate Income Tax, PAYE, withholding tax and other statutory requirements.

· Coordinate annual external audits and manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.

· Identify opportunities to improve, standardise and optimise finance processes and systems.

· Ensure accurate maintenance, control and archiving of financial records and supporting documentation.

· Support the Finance leadership team with financial analysis, reporting and ad hoc finance projects as required.

Minimum Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related field.

· Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in general ledger, financial accounting or a similar role.

· Experience in the motor/automotive, manufacturing, retail or financial services industry will be advantageous.

· Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end close, taxation and financial controls.

· Experience working with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.

· Proven experience working with external auditors and tax consultants.
