General Maintenance Worker

Erinvale Estate Hotel & Spa, a luxury 5-star hotel in the heart of the Cape Winelands, is looking for a skilled, hands-on and service-oriented Maintenance Worker to join our team.

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring that our hotel, guest rooms, suites, public areas, grounds, facilities and equipment are maintained to the highest standards.

The Role

The Maintenance Worker will be responsible for carrying out general and preventative maintenance, attending to maintenance requests and assisting with the upkeep of the hotel's buildings, facilities and grounds.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general and preventative maintenance throughout the hotel.
• Attend to guest room and suite maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
• Carry out basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, tiling and general repair work.
• Assist with the maintenance of HVAC, kitchen, laundry and other hotel equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections and identify potential maintenance issues.
• Assist with pool and spa maintenance, including chemical testing and record keeping.
• Inspect and maintain external areas, lighting and irrigation systems.
• Participate in the hotel's Suite Care and preventative maintenance programmes.
• Safely operate hand and power tools and maintenance equipment.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requirements when required.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
• Communicate effectively with hotel departments and use two-way radios professionally.
• Ensure all work is completed to Erinvale's high standards of quality, presentation and service.

What we are looking for

Minimum requirements:

• Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate or relevant FET qualification.
• Minimum 3 years' relevant general maintenance experience.
• Experience in a hotel, lodge, resort, estate, facilities management or similar environment.
• Sound practical knowledge of basic:
• Plumbing
• Electrical work
• Carpentry
• Painting
• Tiling and general repairs
• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and time-management skills.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual work.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends and public holidays as required.

Advantageous:

• Previous experience in a 4- or 5-star hospitality environment.
• Experience with pool and spa maintenance.
• Basic HVAC and mechanical knowledge.
• A valid driver's licence.
