Job Advert Summary
The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, operational performance, financial success, and guest experience of Bupenyu Lodge. The incumbent will ensure that all departments consistently deliver exceptional luxury hospitality experiences while maintaining Newmark Hotels & Reserves' brand standards, profitability, and operational excellence.
The General Manager serves as the leader of the property, fostering a culture of service excellence, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with company policies, legislation, and industry best practices.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 5–8 years' experience as a General Manager or senior operational leader in a luxury lodge or hotel environment.
- Previous experience within a luxury safari lodge is highly advantageous.
- Proven experience managing multi-department operations.
- Demonstrated financial management and budgeting experience.
- Strong background in guest relations and luxury hospitality.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the overall operations of the lodge, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and operational excellence.
- Manage all departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Kitchen, Maintenance, Security, and Administration.
- Drive financial performance by managing budgets, controlling costs, monitoring revenue, and achieving profitability targets.
- Recruit, lead, develop, and motivate employees while fostering a positive, high-performance culture.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, labour legislation, and brand standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with guests, suppliers, travel partners, and local stakeholders.
- Monitor service quality, resolve guest concerns promptly, and continuously improve guest satisfaction.
- Oversee maintenance of the lodge and ensure facilities are presented to the highest luxury standards.
- Support sales and marketing initiatives to maximise occupancy, revenue, and market presence.
- Prepare operational and financial reports, analyse business performance, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Safeguard company assets through effective stock control, procurement, risk management, and security practices.
- Promote sustainability initiatives and uphold the values and reputation of Newmark Hotels & Reserves through professional leadership and ethical business practices.
